Whether you
are considering a permanent move, a holiday home, or an
investment opportunity, the Costa Blanca from Alicante
to Valencia, offers a unique and highly desirable environment.
Weather
The climate in the area is considered to the best
in Europe, it boasts warm sunny winters and long summers.
The area enjoys over 300 days of sun a year with temperatures
ranging from 20ºC to 30ºC. It holds the accolade
of having one of the healthiest climates in the world, as
stated by the World Health Organisation. |
Area
The Costa Blanca enjoys a varied landscape, dry and almost desert in the south
to green and colourful in the north. Along the whole coastline you can enjoy
unspoilt sun kissed beaches and coves, as well as dramatic cliffs and secluded
bays, perfect for those who enjoy the crystal clear sea. The Costa Blanca
also boasts some magnificent mountain ranges like the Sierra Bernia and the
Montgo. Both of which provide stunning backdrops, towering majestically behind
the coast. |

Activities and sports
If it's sport and the great outdoors you enjoy – then you
will not find a better place to be. No matter where you are in
the Costa Blanca, you are only minutes away from a broad selection
of golf courses. Catering for all levels and taste, from 9-hole
courses in Javea or Ifach to 18-hole championship clubs in Denia
or Oliva. Spain as a nation is big on tennis and as a result
has created many world-class players, this is apparent in the
number of Tennis clubs in the area.
There are many other sports
becoming very popular, such as walking and hiking and horse riding – this
is not surprising when you look at the beautiful unspoilt landscape
the Costa Blanca enjoys. Of course water-sports feature prominently
due to the warmth and clarity of the Mediterranean Sea. Most
costal villages offer moorings on a daily or permanent basis.

Cuisine
As a result of the fertile soil and the moderate all
year round temperature the Costa Blanca grows much of its own
food, this is reflected in the style of cooking. The most famous
dish from the area is Paella. Again, made from local produce
and complemented with the days catch from the fishing ports.
Apart from rice, the Region of Valencia
also has many soups and stews known locally as "ollas" which
are made from the stock of meat. With regards to meat, ox
and beef are generally reserved for festivals or holidays.
Game such as rabbit and duck are used in rice, chicken in
paella, whilst lamb is usually roasted. |
Due
to the proximity of the sea, the Costa Blanca also has a wide
variety of fish. Typical fish from the Valencian coasts include
the spotted flounder, conger, whiting, hake, sea bass, gilt-head
sea bream, red mullet, anglerfish and a small fish called the "aladroc" (anchovy),
which can be fried, baked, covered in a salt casing, cooked in
a "suquet" (type of stew), served with onion,
with an almond or orange sauce or prepared in any other of the
many ways which have been invented by the fertile Mediterranean
imagination.
Culture
This part of the Costa Blanca is steeped in history.
Alicante to the South is still an important and vibrant port
town with charming tree lined squares and boulevards. Valencia
to the North, as Spain 's third city, has many fantastic examples
of Gothic and Romanesque architecture as well as a host of modern
day theatres, museums, art Galleries and excellent shops. Each
of the smaller towns along the coast has its individual charm.
In the old town and port of Javea for example you can enjoy numerous
flamboyant fiestas with men on horseback jousting in the street,
fireworks and partying until dawn.
Education
More and more young families with children are starting
a new life in Spain and there is an extensive choice of high
quality educational provision from pre-school level to University
available to your child. There are Spanish Schools and private
International Colleges from which to choose. Here, your child
can be educated in their native language or Spanish.
Medical care
Exceptional dental, medical and clinical facilities
are provided by both public and private sectors, with access
to first-rate English speaking Dentists, Doctors and Consultants.
Modern hospitals and clinics are available locally as well
as in the major centres of Alicante and Valencia. |
